授課教師:Ferenczy Zsuzsa Anna

課程介紹:The Asia-Pacific has become the fastest growing region in the world. This course provides an introduction to the evolution of the main economies of the Asia-Pacific region (comprising Northeast and Southeast Asia). It looks at economic growth, trade and investment flows and at the political developments in the region, within the larger global geopolitical context and the growing geostrategic rivalry emerging between the United States and China. The first part of the course looks at the broad regional trends in development, the environmental challenges to economic growth, and the regional diversity in meeting challenges. The remainder of the course looks in more detail at individual economies, including China's economic transformation and opening up and current challenges in adjusting to the 'new normal', as well as at ASEAN's economic integration process. The course also looks at the European Union as an actor with close trade links with most of the region, with geopolitical ambitions.
