Wellcome to the Department of Taiwan and Regional

To Students in the Department of Taiwan and Regional Studies:

Starting August 1, I will take on the administrative responsibilities of the department chair and assume responsibility for the affairs of the Department of Taiwan and Regional Studies.

An ideal university should offer a spacious environment and abundant green spaces—an environment that opens your mind, inspires youthful thinking, and encourages imagination. National Dong Hwa University is precisely such a broad and free academic institution, both in terms of its campus and its flexible course structure.

The four-year undergraduate curriculum of the Department of Taiwan and Regional Studies includes university-wide core courses, college foundation courses, departmental core courses, as well as programs in Human Geography and Indigenous and Local Cultures. By combining the humanities with digital technologies, the curriculum helps you build expertise in the humanities and a strong sense of engagement with local communities. It also cultivates the abilities to observe, analyze, and think critically, equipping you with the skills needed for local studies and regional research.

You may also choose courses and programs offered by other colleges and departments according to your interests and strengths. Through minors, double majors, teacher education programs for elementary and secondary schools, or the 3+2 bachelor's-to-master's program, you can continue to explore yourself through interdisciplinary learning and discover the limitless possibilities within you.

The faculty members of the Department of Taiwan and Regional Studies are dedicated and professional. We value close interaction between faculty and students and are committed to taking action, caring for, and working deeply with local communities. Our senior students are full of creativity and are always willing to share what they have learned and their experiences with their juniors, offering support in both academic and everyday life.

Welcome to the warm and caring community of the Department of Taiwan and Regional Studies.
